Post- Storm Tips

  • Document damage to your home before clean up with photos or video, and compile a written list of damaged items.

  • Read your homeowner insurance policy thoroughly to see what is and isn’t covered before contacting the insurance company.

  • If you suffered serious damage, consult with a roofing contractor. Do not attempt to get on roof.

  • Check for leaks by looking for water spots on ceilings

  • Check for down power lines or gas leaks. If you find either notify your utility provider. Do not approach a downed line.

  • Avoid flood waters as the water could be contaminated or electrically charged from down power lines.

  • Enter the building carefully. If your door sticks along the top as you try to enter stop and do not enter. This could be a sign of more sever roof damage.

  • Do not light any candles, cigarettes, or operate electrical switches around the house until the building is inspected. When cleaning never mix bleach with ammonia products containing ammonia.
